Why Does Curt Wiring Power Lead Need to Run to Battery on 2022 Ford Maverick
Question:
Concerning C59DR, why can,t you connect the hot to the provided 12V on the 2022 Ford Maverick instead of running a wire underneath all the way to the battery?

The 12V power lead for any wiring kit, including the Curt T-Connector # C59DR for your 2022 Ford Maverick, will potentially need more power than a 12V socket will be able to provide. The whole point of having a separate power and module in a kit like this is to prevent the trailer wiring from having an affect on the OEM wiring for your tow vehicle. If the trailer were to pull enough power that the fuse on your Maverick was overloaded and blew then that means your trailer lights will be inactive and whatever else that 12V socket is connected to (like a phone charger) on the circuit will be without power.
I know it's not as easy running the power wire to your battery but it's always best to stick with the manufacturer's guidelines, especially when it comes to wiring installations.
