The Curt # C56306 fits the 2011-2019 Ford Explorer. Since you have the 2020 or 2021 model this will not fit. There are no plug and play options for a 7-way but you can still add one. The first thing you will need is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118599. This plugs into connection points in the rear of the vehicle and will provide you with a 4-way that can power a trailer's signal lights.
Once you have the 4-way installed you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else you need to upgrade your 4-way to a 7-way. The adapter also maintains the 4-way connection so you have both should you need it.
If you want to add a brake controller as well, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR. This is a proportional brake controller that uses a 3-axis accelerometer and active calibration technology for precise and smooth braking. The main unit mounts in an out of sight location with only the control knob visible in the cab of your vehicle. The knob controls the braking power and also acts as the manual override.
I have attached some installation videos for your reference.
