I have a solution for you but you do not want a 1-1/4" hitch if you have the option to install a 2" like the EcoHitch item # 306-X7284. It has a different installation method that will hang down below your rear bumper. 2" hitch's have a higher capacity and a much wider range of options to choose from when it comes to accessories. The Ecohitch is custom fit and bolts to your 2013 Jetta TDI with included hardware. It's installation method behind the rear bumper will leave only the 2" x 2" receiver visible. To use 1-1/4" accessories with this hitch you will want to use the 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver item # e63YR. This sleeve will allow you to use all your 1-1/4" accessories and not reduce the hitch's capacity.

The reducer sleeve does not work on towing. If you are going to be towing you will need the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.

If you need a wiring harness to control your trailer or accessories lighting functions you will want the Wiring Harness Kit # C59496.
