2 Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Toyota RAV4
Question:
I purchased this hitch on your recommendation when I purchased the Malone kayak trailer to be able to pull it using my 2017 RAV4 hybrid I have since purchased a Hollywood E bike rack that I’ve been using on my RV which requires a 2 inch hitch. I’m looking for a solution which would allow me to swap out the hitch on my RAV4 to be able to accommodate both the kayak trailer and the e bike rack. My understanding is that it is not safe to use an adaptor so I am assuming I need to replace my receiver.can you advise me? Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out!
I recommend swapping out your Class II Curt Hitch # C12108 for the etrailer Hitch # e98864 for your 2017 Toyota RAV4. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver which will accommodate both your Malone kayak trailer and your Hollywood Racks E-Bike Rack and I like it because of the tab that's welded onto the crosstube so it's easier to connect your wring.
In addition to a new hitch you'll also need a ball mount that can fit the larger receiver and for that I recommend checking out the TowSmart Towing Starter Kit # TS94FR because it not only fits the specs you need (3/4" rise and 2" hitch ball) but it also comes with a locking hitch pin for some added peace of mind.
