Troubleshooting Brakes Working Stronger On One Side of the Trailer
Question:
I have a campomatic camper fitted with alko electric brakes running through a hayamen reece controller. they used to work superbly but now I find a lack of braking I have adjusted them correctly and checked the wiring for cuts, shorts etc. I suspect that the braking is only occurring on one side as one side is a lot warmer then the other after use. however when camper is in the air and wheels free and I apply the override switch both wheels lock up with a buzzing noise at the magnet on the right side, the side I suspect to be doing all the braking when in tow. can you offer any advice please!

The brake magnets could be in need of replacement. That seems to be the most likely situation all things considered. I attached an FAQ on testing brake magnets that will help you determine for sure.
You can also visually inspect the magnets as well. If the magnet is worn to the point where any of the copper wiring is visible it is time to replace the magnet.
