Yakima or Thule Roof Rack for 2019 Honda CR-V with Naked Roof

Question:

Is the Yakima signigicantly superior to the Thule of the or other rack systems? Will the Thule J hooks from my square bars fit the aero bars?

When it comes to roof rack quality both Yakima and Thule are right there at the top. The Thule rack will be a little easier to install on your 2019 Honda CR-V and the crossbar design is pretty sweet but I like the Yakima brand because you can easily upgrade to larger crossbars with no issues, it has a similar-ish design in the abilities of the T-Slot that the Thule has, but my favorite part are the small adjustments in the legs that you make with the Yakima roof rack.

Some people say this makes the install more difficult and while it does mean you have more steps, it also means your crossbars are more level with each other and they fit more custom to the contour of your roof than pretty much every other rack on the market. Once you have the adjustments made in the legs it's just as easy to install as the Thule so I'd go with the Yakima (which will also work with your Thule J-style kayak carrier).

You'll need the following parts for the naked roof on your 2019 CR-V:

50" JetStream Crossbar - # Y00425
BaseLine Towers - # Y28TR
BaseClips - # Y06188 and # Y06189
Lock Core Kit - # Y07204 (optional)

Attached is a review video of this system on a 2016 CR-V for you to check out.
