What Parts Are Need to Tow a 2009 Honda CR-V Behind an RV or Motorhome

Question:

I am pulling a Honda CR-V 2009 model. I will buy the stowmaster 502 model. I want the quick disconnect and the safety cables and anchors RM 655. What other parts do I need to attach to my car to pull it. Do I have to buy bar RM067 or is it part of the package? The web site leaves me a bit confused. If I do not get the quick disconect system how is the car disconnected. Does one have to use a wrench or what?

I will walk you through which parts you need starting from your 2009 Honda CR-V and move towards the vehicle.

First you need base plates for the CR-V if you do not already have them. The base plates available for your CR-V are RoadMaster part # RM-521559-4.

Next you need the towbar. You have selected RoadMaster part # RM-501. It has a quick disconnect system built in and will fit the base plates for your CR-V, so part # 910021-00 is not needed.

You will need safety cables. You can use part # RM-655 with the EZ Hook slip ends, or you can use standard cables like part # RM-655-64

Finally you will need lights. You can either use magnetic lights which are easy to install and remove and are not permanent, or you can hardwire in a light system to use the tail lights of your CR-V. A lot of our customers like magnetic lights, part # RM-2120 from RoadMaster. It is a very easy part to install and use.

Additionally, you can look into a braking system. Some states require that a braking system be used when towing a vehicle, others do not. In any case, brakes are a good idea to maintain control of the towed vehicle. I will add a link to a page with our brake systems and some more information about how and why they are used.
