Complete Brake Controller Set-Up For A 2012 Mazda CX-9

Question:

I purchased this wiring pack in 2019 and have not yet installed it as we have another vehicle that is our typical tow vehicle but will be selling that vehicle soon. The 2 small trailers we usually use has a 4 pin flat connection. On rare occasions i will need to pull a small casita camper with the mazda that is a seven pin configuration. Rare bc the mazda towing capacity is too close to the empty casita trailer weight Does it make the most sense to install this kit and buy an adapter for this 4 pin to 7 pin? Is it best to abandon the 4pin kit I haven’t yet installed and Buy another kit that can do both 4 and 7 pin? Is there a smarter option that i am not considering?

I wouldn't abandon your T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118520 for your 2012 Mazda CX-9.

Since you mention that one of your trailers requires a 7-way and one does not, I recommend installing the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 as well.

This kit will give you the functionality of a 7-way and a 4-flat trailer connector so you can easily tow both of your 2 Casita Trailers.

Additionally, the only way to be able to use a 7-way connector is to first have a 4-installed as well, so no matter what you're going to need to install # 118520.

Finally, since one of your trailers has a 7-way installed, it likely has brakes. I recommend also adding brake controller # C84VV with the harness # C51515 to your setup.
