Will an Older Brake Buddy Work with a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer and Other Parts Needed to Flat Tow
Question:
I have a 1989 Brake Buddy not proportional . Im interested in a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer AWD ACTIV with electric activated braking system. The Trailblazers Owners Manual says to remove the negative battery cable to 4 down tow the Trailblazer. What do I need to do to the braking system to use my Brake Buddy to tow 4 down tow the Trailblazer behind my Class A Gas Motorhome ?

I contacted the manufacturer about if your Brake Buddy from 1989 would work with the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer and they informed me that it would not work because the older Brake Buddy's only work with vacuum assisted brakes and that electric assisted brakes are too sensitive. So you would need to get a new Brake Buddy like the Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39494.
For the battery needing to be disconnected you can use the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766.
Other items you would need to tow your 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer would be a base plate kit like the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU49FR, tow bar and safety cables like the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380, and tow lights like the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL-7B. You would want to consult the owners manual of your Trailblazer to ensure you are doing everything that is required/recommended to flat tow your Trailblazer.
