How to Use Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights With Power Wire For Supplemental Braking System
Question:
I currently use the Hopkins wireless lights when towing our vehicle behind our motorhome works well although it can go through batteries somewhat quickly. I plug the control part into the motorhome using a 7 to 4 pin adapter plug. Now, I would like to power my towed vehicle brake unit from the motorhome as well so, I would need to bring a 12v power wire and presumably a ground wire, too from the motorhome. I was hoping to find an adapter that had 2 output connections, one 4 wire and another that has a 12v and ground. I see that there is an adapter that has both a 4 wire and 5 wire output, but it doesnt appear that any of those pins have 12v power. Are you aware of any 7 wire to pin adapters that would give me the 4 pin for the Hopkins lights and a power and ground, too? Any ideas? Id rather avoid splicing into the wiring connections for the 7 pin on the motorhome. I also would like to avoid just coming off the battery of the towed vehicle, Thanks!

While we have a solution for you to use your Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights # C6304 and use the 7-way on your motorhome as the 12 volt power for your braking system, there isn't an adapter that offers a 7-way or 6-way as well as a 4-way.
So what you would need to do is cut off the 4-way end of the lights and wire them into the 6-way connector of the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit # RM-146-7.
