Is Offset Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter Needed For Short Bed Truck
Question:
I have a 2007 Chevy 2500 Duramax crew cab with a standard 6.5 foot bed will the Ranch adapter work or do I need the offset adapter?

The offset Ranch Hitch adapter is needed for trucks with a bed that is less than 8 feet long. You will need as much clearance as possible with a short bed truck, and without the 8" offset you'll be very limited in how much you can turn. So a short bed will need the offset adapter, which is the following part number:
- Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/ 8" Offset # AM3139
In order to make the installation of the # AM3139 much easier, it is recommended to use the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3103.
The Slide Hammer allows you to seat the threaded collar properly over the king pin; it isn't required but if you don't use it you'll need a gear puller. You can see this on page three of the installation instructions that are linked below.
