Converting a 4-Way Connector to a 7-Way on a 2008 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I have an 08 Toyota highlander. I connected a 4 pin w/converter. This SUV does not have a 7 pin connector. Do I have to run the other wires to the engine compartment?

Yes, two of the wires on part # 30717 will need to be run up to the engine bay, the black and orange, and the blue wire will need to be run to the brake controller in the vehicle. However you will need more than this to tow a trailer with brakes behind your 2008 Toyota Highlander.
I would suggest Tekonsha Prodigy proportional controller, part # 90885. To use this brake controller with your Higlander, you will need part # ETBC7. You would order this, instead part # 30717 and piecing together the other parts. # ETBC7 has all the necessary hardware and wires to complete the install of the 7-way connector. I have included a link to a video reviewing this kit.
