Wiring Harness Does not Stay Connected to 7-Way Trailer Wiring Connector in # 118253
Question:
I have had the wiring harness working but the harness periodically detaches from the 7-way plug mounted on the back bumper fascia. The latching mechanism doesnt seem to form a solid catch. Is there a procedural step Im missing?

There is a little tab on the 7-Way that is supposed to catch on the wiring harness to lock it into place. If that piece is bent or broken off then the harness will not stay on the back of the connector. When you push the harness onto the back of the connector there should be a click indicating that it is locked into place. There is also a gray tab on the wiring harness that you will need to pull out and then push it onto the back of the connector. Then you will push the gray locking tab back in.
If the 7-Way connector is broken then you can replace just the plug with # PK11893.
