Recommended 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 Inch Receiver on 2021 Mini Cooper
Question:
I am having the EcoHitch installed on my 2021 Mini Cooper this week. Which of the 2 bike 1 1/4 hitch systems work best in your experience? Thule, Yakima? A fold down system would be nice. Thank you

The best bike rack option for you will depend quite a bit on what type of bikes you're wanting to carry.
I prefer a platform type rack versus a hanging style, as they're easier for most folks to load. Both Thule and Yakima make a high quality product, but given a choice between the two, I'd recommend the Thule products as they're manufactured in the US.
The Thule T2 Classic, part # TH9045 would be a great choice for carrying two bikes weighing up to 50 lbs each. The rack can fold up against the rear of the vehicle for storage or can tilt rearward with the bikes in place for easier rear cargo area access.
If your bike has fenders, the T2 Classic wouldn't be a good choice. For bikes with fenders, I'd recommend the Thule DoubleTrack Pro, part # TH92BJ. The DoubleTrack Pro can carry two bikes weighing up to 35 lbs each. Because the rack holds the bikes by the underside of the tires and the frame, it'll work great on bikes that have fenders. For bikes with step-thru frames, you'll want to use a frame adapter bar like # 64005 to provide the frame hooks a place to grab onto the bike. This rack will also fold for storage or tilt for cargo area access.
Both bike racks can be used in a 1-1/4 inch receiver.
