Can Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack be Used for Electra Step-Thru Bike with Fenders

Question:

I have a step through bike with fenders, directions say to have the tire holder as close to the for as possible. The front fender sticks out 8” from the fork, would this be a bad idea, and I should just go with a frame secured rack. Any suggestions, I like the swagman chinook, does it compare with the kuat reliability. Thanks.

If you had a really short front fender then you could probably get away with using the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU84FR, but since those front hooks will be 8" out from the fork we want to go with a bike rack that secures the bikes by the frame like what you mentioned.

The Swagman Chinook # S64683 is a decent bike rack but I would say the Transfer V2 definitely outshines it when we are talking about quality - Kuat just prides themselves on outputting higher-end products while the Swagman brand is a good, middle-of-the-road type of bike rack. For something a little nicer I recommend checking out the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR. This is just a little easier to use and it can accommodate a wider variety of bikes.

If the step-thru gap on your Electra bike is pretty significant you'll probably want to pick up an adapter bar like part # 64005 as well so the hook can secure the bike up higher.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out.
