2022 RX350 Wiring Harnesses and Brake Controller

Question:

I’d like to set up my 2022 RX350awd with a brake controller and 7 pin harness. It does NOT have the “tow ready” package from the factory. I already bought a receiver from you guys and love it, would like to get the electronics dialed in. Thanks!

I would be happy to help you set your 2022 Lexus RX 350 up for towing. Since you don't have the tow ready package we are going to have to use a couple of universal harnesses to get you to a 7-way. The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit item # 119250KIT will provide you with a 4-flat connector. This harness does not require splicing of your Lexus's wires. The zero-contact interface sensors identify the current flowing through each wire by simply clamping onto it.

The second harness you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires item # ETBC7L. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your vehicle with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it. This kit allows you to use a trailer brake controller that pulls power from your trailer connector instead of wiring into your Lexus.

Since you don't have the tow ready package I recommend using the Curt Echo item # C51180. The bluetooth-enabled brake controller wirelessly connects to your smartphone and allows you to control your trailer brakes and settings through an app. The compact unit plugs in line with your 7-way trailer connector so you don't have to worry about a brake controller being mounted to your dash. This is a proportional brake controller that automatically activates your trailer's brakes when you press your brake pedal.
