What Cargo Carrier and Anti-Rattle Device do You Recommend for My 33.4x27.6x 28.4 Generator?

Question:

I have a 445 fifth wheel camper with a 2 trailer hitch. I am looking for a way to carry a Honda EU7000iS generator. The generator is 33.4x27.6x 28.4L x W x H and is 270lb. Do you have something you would recommend. From my research the biggest issues seems to be the hitch bouncing and the hitch breaking... Thanks

For a generator that measures 33.4 inches long x 27.6 inches wide x 28.4 inches high and weighs 270 pounds, I recommend using the 32x48 Reese Solo Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel # PS1040100. This cargo carrier is approved to withstand the added force/torque on the back of your fifth wheel camper. We've had many neighbors who have given this carrier rave review when used on a trailer. The inside dimensions of the Reese carrier are 47-3/4" long x 31-3/4" wide x 2-3/4" deep.

As far as theft-deterrence and keeping the carrier secure to the hitch during transport, I strongly recommend the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # 63232 Not only does this lock protect your investment, but it also provides you with a tight fit that connects the shank of the carrier to your hitch. This pin dramatically reduces any shank movement and vibration during movement. For even more support against movement and vibration, you can also use the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer for 2" Hitches - Vinyl Coated Steel # e99007.

To make sure that your generator sits nice and snug on the platform, I recommend using the Erickson Cam Buckle Tie-Down Straps w/ S-Hooks - 2" x 8' # EM34409. The S-hooks will attach to the tie-down openings along the wide rails of the carrier.

As with all hitch accessories, I recommend confirming with your trailer's owner's manual that you can safely transport the weight of the cargo you wish to transport.
