Replacement Idler Hub for 3500 lb Axle on Boat Trailer

Question:

I purchased a used trailer. The hubs were badly rusted, the bearings moderately rusted and the spindle mildly rusted. I measure the tapered spindle at 1 3/8 inner bearing 1 1/16 outer bearing. Looking around your website I am not sure which hub I should consider. The tire and rims on it were ST 205 75 R 14 I believe that to be 5 on 4.5 but not all of your hubs identify the bearing sizes, or I dont know how to find that info. I am guessing I dont want pre greased as I aim to put marine grade grease in them. The axle has a grease port built in. Also, I only intend to use the trailer for a 12-foot Jon boat so unless there is no other option, I think parts rated to 2k would be sufficient.

From what you describe, you have a 3500 lb axle which uses an L44949 outer and a L68149 inner wheel bearing.

For a replacement hub with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, use # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K for a galvanized idler hub that's perfect for a boat trailer. The hub includes the bearings, races, grease seal, dust cap and lug nuts.

A 2K capacity hub wouldn't be compatible with the spindles on your axle.

I've linked to an install video that you might find helpful.
