Solution for Using Equalizer Weight Distribution System When Upgrading Trailers

Question:

My current trailer has a tongue weight of 810# and trailer weight of 8600# gross. I plan on upgrading trailers in the near future. Is the 1400#/14000# hitch too much for the current trailer?

Yes, the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW # EQ37140ET will be overrated and cause a stiff, bumpy ride and potential problems with your current trailer. The tongue weight range for this WDH is 1,000-1,400 lbs and ideally you want your tongue weight to be somewhere in the middle. However, I do have a solution for you.

I recommend getting the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # EQ37100ET. This puts the tongue weight of your current trailer right in the middle of the 600-1,000 lb range. Then, when you upgrade trailers in the future, you can purchase the Replacement Spring Bars for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems - Qty 2 - 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-01-1499. This will allow you to use the same WDH with the heavier trailer without having to get an entirely new system.

I have attached some review videos for your reference.
