What Roof Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 3" x 1-3/4" Crossbars?

Question:

Looking for a fork mount tray option that would fit that 3” x 1 3/4” rectangular crossbar. The crossbar does have open slots on top that could use channel type mount kits.

I have a great roof rack solution for you. Unfortunately, the mounts on the Yakima HighSpeed # Y02115 will not be able to clamp around your 3” wide x 1 3/4” high rectangular crossbars. This because the 1-3/4 inch height is too tall for the clamps.

However, for a great alternative that will fit, I recommend the Swagman Race Ready Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount # S64705. We here at etrailer like to recommend the Race Ready for its large clamps for wider/taller crossbars. They will be able to mount around crossbars up to 3-3/4 inches of diameter. It also comes with a higher weight capacity than the HighSpeed (45 pounds compared to 40 pounds) and has the benefit of already coming with a locking ratcheting hook for theft-deterrence.

I see. Thanks so much for that information. The only potential issue with using top channels of different-brand crossbars than the bike rack is that different manufactures do not all have the same channels on their crossbars. With that being said, a clamp-on style is the safest bet for fitment if you do not know the channel dimensions. I did some more research on our fork-mount options, and we do carry an option that will work with your crossbars. That is the Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier - Fork Mount # Y02098. The ForkLift will fit on crossbars as long as they do not exceed 3-7/8" wide or 1-7/8" tall. For extra theft-deterrence, I recommend the Yakima Same-Key Lock Cores # Y07202.
