Troubleshooting Power Draw From Roadmaster InvisiBrake with Truck Off
Question:
Hell, I installed a complete roadmaster system in 2020. i am using a Invisibrake and I really love it. However, I have had a problem in the winter when i dont use my toe vehicle on a couple of times a week. It seems to be draining my battery . In testing it I found it has about a 200 Milliamp draw on it even with the truck shut down. Is this normal? Its a big 850 cca battery and after 3 or 4 days it cranks very slow in a heated garage. I took it to a dealer and they found the draw on it also. I have pulled the fuse for the winter but i need to know if I have a problem. Thanks for your help.

If you had to install the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400 when you installed the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 then that's where you want to start. The InvisiBrake system shouldn't be pulling any power unless it is being utilized so if it is draining the battery when the truck isn't even being used that's an indicator that the relay wasn't installed correctly and you want to make sure all of the wires are installed to the correct functions. I confirmed this with my contact at Roadmaster.
If this doesn't fix it then you might have a bad ground somewhere. Usually a bad ground will cause issues like a power draw or something acting up. If it isn't the relay or a bad ground let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.
