Recommended Replacement For A Tie-Down Engineering Disc Brake Hub

Question:

I have a 2006 Ranger Trail tandem axle trailer serial # 4WRBS222661110780 tandem axle. The hub is a TDE 11033L. It is a Ranger Cool Hub oil bath hub. Per Ranger it maybe part # 9606030R1 or 205791.

I will start by saying that your TDE 11033L hub uses the # L68149 inner bearing and # L44649 outer bearing, which means you have a pretty standard #84 spindle on a 3,500 pound axle. With that said, we do not carry Tie Down Engendering products, so the actual hub will cause some difficulties. Especially being oil bath as hubs for this size axle were only ever really done by TDE.

Just as an example, if you look at the Kodiak Trailer Hub # Q-HUB84545 that will fit the Kodiak 10" Rotor # KR10D, the hub will have a 6-3/8" overall diameter so it can fit into the rotor's 6-1/2" diameter with a little wiggle room. From looking at the pictures you provided, it doesn't look like you will have this kind of clearance so you will need to measure. If the # Q-HUB84545 will fit though, it will be my recommendation.

This does not include bearings so you will need to grab those, but you can also use the Kodiak XL ProLube Kit for 3500-lb Axles # XLPROLUBE1980KIT with this hub and it will keep you with oil bath. This includes oil caps, oil seals, and even oil.

With all that being said, if I am wrong and the hubs cannot be separated from the rotor, the only option we will have is to replace the entire disc brake system. For this you can use two of the # Q-HUB84545 hubs with one of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Rotor # K2R35D, or you can use the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor # K2HR35DKG that has the hub and rotor permanently connected together. I prefer this style. Either option can also use the # XLPROLUBE1980KIT oil bath kit as well.
