Best Trailer Hitch And Wiring For A 2022 Honda Passport

Question:

What is the best trailer hitch and wiring I can get for my new 2022 Honda Passport? I want to make sure this is the most heavy duty stuff I can get. I also need the wiring to be a 7 plug. I dont have the need for a controller yet and already have an adapter for the 4 plug on my trailer, but I want the option of adding one if I ever need to.

For your 2022 Honda Passport, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76290. This Class III hitch is rated up to 6,000 pounds towing and 900 pounds of tongue weight capacity, though you will need to check your owner's manual for your max capacities. It is a quick and easy bolt on application as well, so no drilling or anything. I included an install video for you to check out as well.

For the wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring 7-Way Harness # 118291. This is also a quick and easy install as it is plug and play. Tekonsha harnesses are the best ones we currently carry and as this already has the 7-Way on it, you don't need any other wiring bits to get it upgraded. One of the very nice things about the Draw-Tite hitch is that it includes a bracket to make mounting a wiring harness easier. All you will need is the # PK12711U Mounting Bracket to get everything connected and you are good to go.

Just as a side note, if you do end up needing a brake controller down the road, you may want to check out the Tekonsha Prodigy iD # TK49VR. This is one of the newest controllers from Tekonsha and I am really liking it. It can handle up to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies) and works with electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes, so it's versatile. Using the # 3070-P pigtail, it will also plug right into your Passport. All you need to do is figure out where to mount it and drill a hole to mount the knob. Then download the app and get it set exactly how you want it.
