Recommended Fixed Ball Mount For 6 Inch Rise
Question:
Is it safe or legal to use a hitch turned over to make a 4inch or 6inch rise in the hitch height? Or will the weld strength be compromised ?

It is absolutely safe and legal to use a ball mount turned over to make a rise in the hitch height. For a 6 inch rise, I recommend using the Curt Ball Mount - 6" Rise, 8" Drop - 11-1/2" Long - 5,000 lbs # C45090. The weld is secure using a rise or drop. You simply need to reverse the hitch ball. For a 2 inch hitch ball, I recommend # 63845 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 63847.
If you are looking for more versatility in options, I recommend and adjustable ball mount like the Curt Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900 that comes with the 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.
For a pin and clip, I recommend # PC3. For a locking pin to secure your ball mount, I recommend # e98880.
