High/Low Adapter for Kayak Carrier on 5th Wheel
Question:
I have a 2” receiver on the back of my 5th wheel. It has a 300lb tongue weight. I want to use this to raise my double kayak carrier. Total weight is approx 150lbs. Will it work for that use?

Blue Ox states that their high/low adapters such as the # BX88132 you'd looked at should only be used for flat towing a vehicle, and not for a situation where tongue weight would be applied such as towing a trailer or using a hitch mounted accessory like your kayak carrier.
This being said, Roadmaster high/low adapters such as their # RM-048-10 ARE designed to handle a limited amount of tongue weight and would be able to handle the combined weight of your kayak carrier and the kayaks. Using the adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half, from 300 to 150 lbs, but as long as the weight of the carrier and the kayaks don't exceed that amount, the # RM-048-10 adapter would be the perfect choice.
