How Much Will The Timbren TDR2500D Compress Once Installed On A 2018 Ram 2500?

Question:

I am installing a 2inch spring lift in the rear. I am looking for extended bump stops and came across these. If I had factory hight I dont think I would want to run these being only one inch away from it starting to compress and would rather it be a couple inches away. Question is if I were to install these, how much would these compress compared to stock bump stops?

When installing a Timbren set up like the # TDR2500D, you the want bottom of the spring to sit 1/2" to 1-1/2" above the axle. This clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads, so it is designed this way. Since this is a heavy duty option and is rated up to 8,600 pounds of carrying capacity, you do not want too much space between the jounce and the axle.

With that said, if you are lifting the vehicle, you will want to use a spacer to keep this distance. The # TDR2500D uses and M10 bolt to keep the jounce attached to the bracket, so you will want the Timbren 1" Spacer For Raised Vehicles # A25723-90AH00.

As to the compression, the Timbren spring is 4-1/2" when not under any load, and will compress down to 1-3/4" when fully under a load. As the factory jounce on your truck is simply there to prevent metal on metal contact, I cannot comment on how the compression will compare.
