Troubleshooting Timbren Springs Contacting Axle On a 2017 Ram 2500 With No Additional Load

Question:

Based on your recommendation I bought the Timbren TDR2500D SES for my Cummins powered ‘17 Ram 2500 4x4 Mega Cab with factory air suspension. With the truck unloaded and without using the spacers, the Timbrens still ride on my rear axle. After measuring the gap without any bump stops or Timbrens installed and then the uninstalled Timbren with its mounting bracket no spacer I discovered the TDR2500D is at least 1” too long. Have others had this issue? Is there a shorter spring that would work? Thanks

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR2500D that you have for your 2017 Ram 2500 4X4 with the factory air suspension is designed to fit a vehicle with good suspension and vehicle lift or lowering kits. You should have 1/2" to 1-1/2" of clearance between the Timbren springs and your axle with your Ram unloaded. Seeing as your springs are touching with no weight you either have some kind of lowering kit on the rear of your truck to level it out or your springs have worn to the point they are sagging almost 1" already.

Currently this # TDR2500D and the # TDRTT3500E are the only kits available for your Ram. The # TDRTT3500E is slightly taller since it is their severe service kit that is designed to always have weight on the spring.
