Parts Needed To Add Reverse Light Circuit To a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe
Question:
I have surge brakes on my boat trailer but I need backup lights to be activated to back into the lake, will this work on my 2020 Santa Fe? I have a round 7 pin on the vehicle but only 4 pins are activated powered. I need 5 pins activated include yellow wire ,Backup lights

Normally a Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036 would be added to a Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # CU94FR on your 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe to give you the circuits you are needing. The additional 5th wire is tied into the reverse light circuit on your Santa Fe to power reverse lights or typically a Reverse Lockout Solenoid # T4748800. That solenoid would prevent the brakes from activating when you drove in reverse.
Since you have a 7-way already you will only need some length of 16 Gauge Wire # DW02359-1 to tie into the reverse light circuit on your Santa Fe. A Self-Stripping Connector with Waterproof Sealant # SWC501746-1 is the best way to make the connection on the Santa Fe Wiring with the other end being attached to your current 7-way connector.
