Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Harness For a 2022 Honda Pilot
Question:
I just got a new 2022 Honda Pilot, what trailer hitch do you suggest I use?

I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98840 as the best receiver for your 2022 Honda Pilot. This receiver is the only one that has the matte black powder coat that will blend in with the black accent panels on your Pilot. The receiver is rated for up to 900lbs of tongue weight and towing capacity of 6,000lbs. Towing capacity increases to 8,000lbs when using a weight distribution hitch. Be sure to not exceed any limits given from Honda on your specific model Pilot.
Depending on your intended towing needs you will need either the 4-Way T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118760 or the 7-Way T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118286. The 4-way harness is what most smaller trailers will require and it will allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with any hitch mounted accessory that impairs the view of the tail lights on your Pilot. Larger trailers that use electric brakes or that have on board battery systems will use a 7-way connector. If you have a need for both connections a 7-Way to 4-Way Adapter # PK12716 will connect to the 7-way and give you a 4way connector.
To secure the 4-way without having to drill into your rear fascia a Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58001 will allow you to secure the 4-way connection to the end of the receiver. The 7-way will use the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58000.
The etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 will come with 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch pins with clips, 1-7/8" hitch ball, 2" hitch ball and a storage bag. This will allow you to be able to match the closest ball mount and trailer ball size to match your trailer that you will be pulling.
