Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for Towing a Trailer With 2022 Subaru Forester
Question:
I really think I would like to get a small trailer and travel around with my new 2022 Forester. This has always been a dream of mine and something I'm going to do for a new start for this new year. I think the right place to start would be installing a hitch on my vehicle. Would you let me know what hitch fits and anything else I may need in order to begin my journey? Many thanks.

For a hitch that fits your 2022 Subaru Forester I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13409. This is a custom fit hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 525 lbs so it will be perfect for towing. Make sure to check your owner's manual to see what your vehicle is capable of, you will be limited by whichever capacity is lower. This Class III hitch has a 2" receiver and a gloss black powder coat finish. It features a bolt-on installation and a limited lifetime warranty.
You are also going to need wiring to power your trailer's signal lights. For the most reliable option on your journey, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. This plugs directly into existing wring, providing you with a 4-way connection at the back of your vehicle.
The last thing you need for towing is a ball mount. Check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
