Length of Underside Opening for Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbars

Question:

What is the minimum width of the tower attachment points for a 65 inch Vortex bar? I understood from a previous answer that the attachment points for these bars is not continuous. How much are a pair of 65 inch Vortex bars? The other crossbar set that you suggested are $XX more than the ones I asked about. You can see why I am not too interested in going that route.

The opening on all of the Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars measures 300mm which is about 11-13/16" so that means for 65" Vortex bars # RRVA165B-2 we are looking at about 41-3/8" between where the legs # RRRCL4 will butt up to the crossbar. Keep in mind that from where the leg will butt up to where the Fit Kit # RRRCP60-BK sits is roughly 2-1/2" so from fit kit to fit kit mounting locations we are looking at about 46-3/8".

This is going to be a greater distance than what you have on your 2017 Honda CR-V which is why you need to use smaller Vortex bars like the 49" # RRVA126S-2.

The good news is that the roof rack manufacturers all decided to use the same channel dimensions so the roof rack accessories for roof channels basically all are interchangeable between (most) brands. Thule and Rhino Rack do work together just fine.…
