Having Trouble Installing The Curt C55379 4 Flat Harness In A 4 Flat Mounting Bracket
Question:
Hello, I have 1992 Toyota pickup. I installed a Curt Hitch and 4 way wiring kit for the lights. Everything is working but today I attached in the rear chassis of my pickup small metal bracket into which I am suppose to the connector so is not hanging. This is suppose to be a very simple operation, the fitting is tight so one needs to push a little until it holds in place. I tried for almost 30 minutes, until I gave up to prevent causing some damage to the part. I took a couple of pictures is it will help visualize the problem. I really appreciate your advice. Best regards

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55379 really should not have any trouble fitting into a 4 Flat bracket, like the # 18144, and we use these together pretty often. I have seen a few instances where the bracket was tighter than usual, but a moderate amount of force got everything snapped into place in very little time. The amount of trouble you are having is not normal by any means. Especially since you are going about it the correct way.
This will sound odd, but it may be that the lips, for the lack of a better way to put it, on the bracket may need to be bent out a little more to allow the 4 Flat to fit. I haven't had to do this before, but there is a first time for everything. This should be done as slowly as possible with a large slot screwdriver, or something similar.
If this still doesn't get the 4 Flat fitting properly, odds are there is some kind of defect with the bracket. In this case, your best bet will be to contact the seller to get a replacement. All of these should fit basically any 4 Flat and absolutely should not be this difficult to get everything installed properly.
