Comparing Carrying E-Bike Rack at Front and Rear of RV

Question:

We purchased the Hollywood sport rack from you that will carry two Fat tire ebikes, weight about 134 lbs for both bikes. We also purchased a front hitch for a 21 diesel silverado. We are wondering if the bikes, covered, will hinder air flow too much for the truck engine and are looking for other solutions. Do you have a hitch for over the propane tanks of an RV that will handle the weight and would the sport rack be ok there? We dont think its advisable to put the bikes on our RV in the back. ANy ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. We have not installed either yet. thanks,

It's not uncommon for people to use bike racks in front hitches like you are asking about. You wouldn't want to put a bike rack cover on the setup though as it would whip around pretty violently no matter how tight you thought you could get it which would damage the bikes, the rack, and possibly the front of the truck. This also would block more air flow to the radiator. Unfortunately, your # HLY84FR is not compatible with front mount hitches.

That said your bike rack is approved for use at the rear of an RV which I would recommend as your best option as the bikes will be easier to load and unload there than on a bunk adapter, they won't block your visibility and air flow to radiator, and you could put a cover on it there if you wanted as well. If you need a hitch the Curt # 13703 would be a great choice for your RV.
