Video Transcript for Rampage Lighted Clinometer Review

Today we're going to be taking a look a the Rampage Illuminated Clinometer. This is an analog gauge set. Part number is RA791005. Quick test. Just turn on the running lights. Should come on.

Turn them off and it'll go off. We can see it's going to give us our roll angle and our pitch angle. You've got one, two, three. That's going to be ten degrees, twenty degrees, thirty degrees of rotation. Whether up and down in the front or the back or side to side.

As those numbers get over there, it's going to indicate to us what kind of angle that we are on. You can see the U shaped bracket that made to mount on a flat surface on our jeep. It's also pre-drilled with two holes. We've got one here and one here. If you'd like to hard mount it using screws, that option's available as well but double-stick tape works really well also to keep it in place. We can prep our surface up with some isopropyl alcohol there.

Help get off any dirt or any oil that might have built up. Once we've got that clear, we'll just have to pull that double-stick tape off the back. Firmly press our unit down on to the dash. The thing I like about it is that this is made to sit with the user in mind. You can see if we we're to have it level, our pitch is going to be off there. It's actually going to have a small tilt up to where it makes it a lot easier for us to see.

We've got the two set screws on each side. That's going to help us adjust our angle. You could mount this flush on the front of the dashboard if you wanted to go to it that way. Then we'll just have to make sure we got the appropriate angle so no matter which direction we mount that bracket, whether it's upside down, whether it's on the backside, or whether it's on the bottom, we'll be able to dial that in to have a nice even zero pitch when we're just sitting on a level surface. We can route our wire. In my case here, I'm just going to go along the dashboard. Once we got this inaudible 00:02:11 where we wanted it - see I've just gone down to the floor here. In most applications, you're going to be connecting this right underneath the dash. You should have enough wire. We just need to go to a constant twelve volt power when we have the running lights on or when we have our parking lights on. The other one is going to go to ground. It doesn't matter which does what. That's just going to keep the clinometer from only lighting up when our lights are on in the jeep. I've extended the wire because in this application we're actually going to go out under the hood to the fuse box. We just want to hide that as much as you want to. Some people like it where they can take it in and out. What I'm going to do in this application is take my extension wires and go right through our grommet located under the dashboard here. I'll come out front and just pull it on through. Once we got it out here on the front, we can just run it over to our fuse panel where we need to hook it up. To make our connections here, we'll choose whichever wire we want to use as our ground wire. Just going to use our green one here. We've cut it off to an appropriate length. Strip back the end on it. I'm going to add a ring terminal there. Get that crimp down well and add it to our battery. Go to the negative side of course here. All right, that's one connection done. Our next one as we talked about that's going to be under our fuse box here. Rotate that up. To make our connection, we're going to use one of our Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kits. This is part number F2526. Essentially, what it's going to allow us to do choose the fuse we're going to use. This is our taillight circuit fuse. I'm going to pull that out. It's going to go on the bottom slot. You can see, I've already installed our other ten amp fuse on the top. That's going to create a fuse for this wire. We've got our normal fuse circuit here and an additional fuse circuit here where we'll be able to get our power. The circuit tap comes with several sizes. You've got a ten, a twenty, and a thirty amp fuse that you can pick from. You want to get that slid down in. It's just a matter of connecting our twelve volt wire right there. Let's go ahead and turn off our power wire. That's going to go into the butt connector there. All we'll have to do is crimp it down. This gives us a great, very easy way to get power without having to splice into any of our factory wiring or anything where we might cause a little bit of damage. Just kind of tuck that down. Let it come out of one of the small openings there and we'll close our panel right back up. That's going to complete today's look at the Rampage Illuminated Clinometer, part number RA791005.

I'm a repeat customer. I've never been disappointed by etrailers. Ordering, delivery, packaging, and product always are quick, easy and quality.
This purchase was an inclineometer for my Jeep. I plan on mounting it on my hood where my dash cam will be able to record my angles as I maneuver through the desert trails.
I haven't mounted it yet because of an injury I'm recovering from. I did check calibration and tested the 12 volt back light. Although the front cover pops off to allow any needed calibration, I found it was perfect right out of the box.
I'm looking forward to having it show up in the bottom of my dash cam videos.
