Are There Replacement Brakes Compatible with a Mobile Home Axle
Question:
Will these brakes fit the mobile home axles?

The Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-7R-D could potentially work on a mobile home axle, but it would depend on your axle. Not all mobile home axles are going to be the same and most will not be compatible with the # AKEBRK-7R-D. Mobile homes are typically designed for very limited use before components degrade with failure potential, this makes finding replacement parts very difficult. Often times mobile home axles have the brake backing plate welded directly to the axle tubing instead of a brake flange being installed, or they have a 4 hole flange. If either of these apply to your axles then the # AKEBRK-7R-D would not work for you. But if you have a 5 hole brake flange in place then you can use electric or hydraulic drum brakes. The # AKEBRK-7R-D would work as long as your axle meets the following criteria and the brake backing plate is not welded directly to the axle tubing:
Mounting flange bolt pattern: 5 bolt
Wheel size: 14-1/2", 15", 16" or 16-1/2"
Axle rating: 5,200 lbs, 6,000 lbs, or 7,000 lbs
We also have the # AKEBRK-7L-D available for the Left Hand Assembly
If your axles have a 4-hole flange or the backing plate welded directly to the axle tubing then you are going to be better off replacing the axles all together.
