For your 1984 Ford F-150 I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41990-07. This universal-fit trailer hitch fits heavy-duty and commercial vehicles with frames up to 44" with 7" tall, weld-on mounting brackets included. It has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 16,000lbs and maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,600lbs. There is not a confirmed fitting front mounted hitch for your vehicle and a rear mounted trailer hitch is not going to fit the same as a front mounted hitch so you will not be able to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 14001 you were looking at on the front of your vehicle, so this universal hitch is the only option available.

If you needed a larger different drop you could use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Cross Tube - Class V - 2" # 41990 with the 16" Weld-On Bracket Kit for Draw-Tite Class V Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch # 4916.
