I can definitely get you set up with a trailer wiring harness for your 2022 Ford Explorer with no tow package. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118599 will provide you with a 4-way connector. The T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove the threshold panel and some of the trunk liner to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead with the attached fuse holder up to your car battery. Connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on the battery and insert the provided fuse. Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk. This will provide a 4-way connector.
If you need a 7-way connector for a trailer/ brake controller then you will use that 4-way connector after it is installed and adapt it into a 7-way using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. You will also use the Curt No-Drill Bracket # C57202 to provide a mounting point for the 7-way bracket included in the # ETBC7 kit.
There is no shortcut to installing a 7-way. You have to install a 4-way and then adapt it to a 7-way.
