Will Curt 13453 Class III Hitch on 2021 Toyota Highlander Prevent Auto Liftgate Feature From Working

Will Curt C99FR hitch work with hands free liftgate on 2021 Toyota Highlander

According to the folks at Curt, installing their 13453 which we sell as # C99FR on a 2021 Toyota Highlander will obstruct the hands free liftgate sensors to a degree, but won't completely prevent them from working. The sensors won't pick up any input below and within a few inches immediately left and right of the receiver tube, but if you move a little further outboard, the sensors will pick up movement. It might take a little trial and error to find the sweet spot where the sensors will consistently pick up movement, but the feature will still work.
If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # TK99FR, a ball mount like # C45010 and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball and pin and clip # PC3.
