Troubleshooting Low Voltage Trailer Wiring for 2013 Ford Escape

Question:

I have either part # C56335 or 118566 trailer wiring kit. Went to plug in trailer the other day and got nothing. Checked things over and found fuse was blown. Repalced fuse and still nothing except now I have 9V across all points. Is the control module blown? Is there a way to test that thing? Something else?

I do have a way for you to test the wiring on your 2013 Ford Escape and it will be the same whether you have the T-Connector # C56335 or T-One # 118566.

If you've already checked all of your connections and found them to be in proper working order then you'll want to check the control module like what you said. Check the voltage for the wiring going into the module and then coming out of the module to do this. If the voltage is different then the module isn't working correctly and you'll need to replace the wiring. If the voltage is the same then it sounds like the OEM wiring on your Escape isn't working properly and you'll need a shop or dealer to look at it if you don't feel comfortable doing so on your end.

The other thing to keep in mind is that if all of this is happening when you have the trailer plugged in then it would be good to also check the wiring on your trailer and fix any dirty or faulty wiring or connections.

Attached is a wiring troubleshooting help article for you to check out.
