Availability of 205/75-15 Tire with Load Range E

Hello, I had a quick question about new trailer tires. I had a leaf spring go out in my trailer, and when I got it all fixed, I ended up upping the load on each part. My one problem is I’m having trouble trying to find a E Class wheel and tire combo that will fit my trailer. My stock size is 205/75-15 5 on 4.5. My problem is I don’t know if I’ll be able to find one that isn’t too wide to clear my wheel wells as that tolerance already seems nice? It would be nice to get that load range bumped up as it’s just a single axle trailer and I’m terrible at figuring out how much wider the wheel and tires actually are. I hope this makes sense, Thanks

The reason you have not been able to find a 205/75-15 tire with a load range of E is because they do not have one. For this tire size, D is going to be the highest load range which will have a capacity of 2,150 lbs at 65 psi. The load range varies between tire sizes, so you do not necessarily need an E if you upgrade your tires, but it also won't hurt anything.
Assuming you have the correct rim width, you should be able to add the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10303 to your existing wheels. These tires fit 15" x 6", 15" x 6-1/2", 15" x 7" wheels, and have a capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. These tires have a section width of 8.9" and outer diameter of 28.4" which is about an inch taller and wider when compared to a 205/75-15 tire. You will only need to account for half of this increase when determining if the tire will fit.
When it comes to clearance, you want to keep 3" of vertical clearance above the top of the tire for suspension travel and 1-2" of clearance between the sidewall of the tire and the closest part of the trailer. If you measure 1/2" up and 1/2" from the inside wall of the tire you will be able to tell how much clearance you will have with the new tires. More than likely with such a small difference you won't have an issue.
