I have a 2021 Ram ProMaster 3500 standard length and am wanting a full towing setup including a trailer brake controller. Currently have no hitch or anything, so what do you recommend?

For your 2021 Ram ProMaster 3500 standard length you will need a trailer hitch receiver, a vehicle wiring harness, a ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip, and a trailer brake controller.

Starting with the trailer hitch I recommend going with the Curt # C13207 due to it being the easiest hitch to get installed, but also due to it being tied with the Draw-Tite # 75882 for the highest ratings at 750lbs tongue weight and 6,000lbs trailer weight or 750lbs tongue weight and 7,500lbs trailer weight if using a weight distribution hitch. I prefer the Curt hitches also due to them being made here in the USA.

For a vehicle wiring harness you will want to go with the Tekonsha # 22112 which will give you the 7-way connector needed for a trailer that has trailer brakes, but also this harness has a built in adapter for installing a Tekonsha trailer brake controller without having to hardwire it.

Moving on to the trailer brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which is a top of the line controller with awesome features such as an easy to read LCD screen, and built in diagnostics that are easy to read and understand. This is a proportional controller meaning that the built in sensor detects the intensity that you are applying the brakes to your ProMaster and will send the same braking intensity to your trailer brakes for very smooth and controlled braking. This controller will also plug in directly to the # 22112 mentioned above leaving you a very easy install.

Lastly you will need a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip so I recommend going with the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit includes two different ball mounts, one with a 1" rise/2" drop and another with 2" rise/4" drop, and a 1-7/8" and 2" hitch ball making it so that you will be able to tow multiple different trailers level.
