Recommended Upgraded Motor for 5th Wheel Landing Gear

Question:

I leaned all I could about replacing the motor and gear box. Nothing is wrong with mine. i just need to give it a break during the lift phase or I will blow the 30amp fuse.my motor is part 12534. Al I want to know is can I buy a heavier duty motor and gearbox so it works less but lifts without burning through fuses.?? Why can I add a stronger motor or better gearbox to increase the output power. I dont care how slow it might be.

Though I was unable to find out anything about your current 12534 motor, we may still have a more heavy duty option available for you.

The Lippert HD 6,500 lb Motor # LC196308 will fit the standard gearbox that is on most landing gear, like the # LC276602, but with it rated up to 6,500 pounds, it will most likely be more heavy duty than what came standard on your landing gear. However, this will be the highest rated motor that we currently carry. If your current motor is also rated up to 6,500 pounds, we will not have a more heavy duty upgrade at this time, unfortunately.

The capacity/strength of an electric motor is determined by voltage and the length of the wire in an electromagnet. Basically, the longer the wire, the stronger the magnetic field. This means more torque to turn the rotor. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be any slower than a lower capacity motor, however, as the speed will be governed by the gearbox. There is also a change the speed can be a little higher under load as it will handle the weight better.
