Do Yakima Artificial Rain Gutters have to be Positioned in a Certain Place on a Truck Camper Shell

Question:

Hi, I have a 2005 Tacoma 6foot Bed with a Leer Canopy. What is the recommended mounting distance between the forward and rear Yakima artificial raingutters. I am going to bolt these to the canopy but am unsure of the distance between. Does it depend on what other accessory racks may go on top eg. bike rack, cargo box etc or do I just mount them as far a part as possible. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

When mounting artificial rain gutters like # Y08002 to a camper shell, there is no specific distance apart they must be placed. What you will want to look at is where you can mount them (the strongest points on the camper shell would be ideal) and how far apart you need them to mount various items like bike racks, canoes, kayaks, cargo boxes, baskets or any other accessory. Just remember that if you place the bars too far back then items on the roof may hang over the back end too much. Same for the front.

In addition to the rain gutters you will also need rain gutter towers, # Y00101. And you will need crossbars. Crossbars come in various lengths. For 48 inch bars use # Y00408. For 58 inches use # Y00409. For 66 inches use # Y00410.
