When a landing gear leg fails, the most common cause is the gears. The gears for your LG-1 landing gear legs will be located at the top of the legs. If you do not have access to the top of the leg with it mounted to the trailer, then you will have to remove the jack. The gear box should be attached to the drive leg by the drive shaft and crank shaft. You will need to remove the cross shaft (the shaft that connects the drive leg to the follower leg) to lower the drive leg. The gear box, and motor if present, should come down with the drive leg.

To remove the leg from your trailer, you will need to remove the bolt or clamps that holds the leg to the trailer frame. Next, remove the cross shaft. This is likely bolted to the end of a drive shaft on the gear box. Once you have the leg lowered, you can inspect the gears. If the gears in the leg look okay, you may need to replace the gear box. For a replacement gear box, you can use part # LG-179015.
