Difference Between Stromberg Carlson LG-183708 and LG-1 Fifth Wheel Landing Gear

Question:

I wanting to replace the landing gear on my Fifth Wheel with the Stromberg Carlson LG-1. Whats the difference between their model # LG-1 and LG-183708? It looks like the distance on my current landing gear weld brackets are 13 1/2 inches from the top of the bottom bracket to the bottom of the top bracket. What modifications are need to make these fit, or can the bulldog landing gear be modified to fit, and what is the modification. Do you use the top weld bracket and then weld another on the let of the landing gear at the correct place? Thanks for any information you help out with.

The two differences between the two Landing Gear kits, # LG-1 and # LG-183708 is the weight capacity, and the fact that one is powered, the other is manually operated. The LG-1 has a 5500 lb capacity and is electrically operated, while the BD500161 has an 8000 lb capacity and is manually operated with a hand crank.

When mounted, either jack will have a 17-1/2 inch distance between the bottom of the upper frame clamp to the top of the lower frame clamp. The jacks do include frame clamps, so if the frame clamps on your existing landing gear don't have the same spacing, you can remove them and weld new brackets in place.
