It lists the height as 4. Is that really correct? If you look at that compared to the other dimensions, it seems that might actually be the width, and the height is 9 inch ??? Can you please confirm?

You are quite observant, as I was able to find the height of the Malone load assist you asked about, which is the following part number:

- Malone Channel Loader Kayak Load Assist # MAL48FR

We measured the Malone Channel Loader, and when it is completely vertical it stands 9-3/8" tall, and also measures 15-3/8" wide.
