Sway Control Only vs Weight Distribution - Which Way To Go

Question:

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory installed hitch. It is rated to pull 6200 lb and has a tongue weight of 620 lb. I have purchased a 7 x 14 cargo trailer with a 5 foot V nose making it 19 feet long with dual axles. It has been converted into a camper and the gross weight is 3500 lb. Do I need a weight distribution hitch or will something like the Curt Sway control bar work? Thanks

Though the Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 will help prevent sway, it is not my personal preference. This is due to them needing to be disconnected when reversing, require drilling to install, and will make quite a bit of noise. Something like the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003 will also be needed to get this type of system working.

With all that being said, I really do prefer weight distribution systems. Something like the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU36FR will not only offer sway control, but will also reduce any sag and will most likely improve the handling while towing as well. This will not need any drilling to get installed and will not need to be unhooked when reversing either. Lastly, it will be a bit quieter than the # 17200, but all weight distribution and/or sway control systems will make noise, so just a heads up on that.
