Kuat Sherpa or Kuat NV For 55 lb E-Bikes For 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch

We have a kuat sherpa 2 mounted on a Prius with a 1-1/4 Hitch. We just purchased ebikes and I am wondering what our options are. One bike is only 33 pounds but the other bike is close to 55 I can take the battery out of that one and it will bring it down to maybe 45- I have not weighed the battery yet. I love the Kuat and it is pretty new. Will the sherpa 2 handle that much weight? If I traded in the sherpa 2 and got the heavier duty model the NV I assume I would have to get a hitch adapter- how well do those work and would it be too much weight for the Prius? Thanks for your input

Ok, so the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches # SH12G has a weight capacity of 40 lbs per bike, so even if you removed the battery from your 55 lb E-bike it would still be too heavy (batteries for electric bikes generally weigh about 7 lbs).

That said, the NV 2.0 has a 60 lb per-bike capacity so you could use it for your 55 lb bike, and no hitch adapter would be needed for your Prius. The reason for that is the NV 2.0 is available with a 1-1/4 inch shank, so it is compatible with all 1-1/4 hitches (both Class I and Class II). So what you would need is the following part:
