Can the Ultra-Fab Tripod Stabilizer Be Used to Support Pinweight of Trailer without Landing Gear
Question:
The driveshaft shear pin on the left front Lippert landing gear sheared leaving the right side holding up the entire front end. I have the tripod that states the carrying capacity is 5,000 lbs and I know my pin load is 1,510 lbs. Is there any reason why I cant use the tripod to hold up the entire weight while I raise the landing gear to the top to equalize both sides and re- the shear pin?

The Ultra-Fab 5th Wheel Tripod Stabilizer # UF19-950001 is designed for stabilization and not truly to hold a load on its' own. I really like these as stabilizers but I don't believe I would trust them to hold a load while I make repairs to my landing gear. Your best bet to make this repair is to couple the trailer to the truck and allow it to hold the load; it's going to be much safer and the way I would make this repair if I had to.
