Screws On Awning Rail Keep Coming Out

Question:

I have a 2019 5th wheel that had slide out awning installed and now I see the screws the attach the rail to the side of the camper are coming out from front of trailer to the rear. The rails were installed without the butal tape. I have tried to retighten the screws but they don’t tighten up. I am thinking of using larger screws or rivets after I get the tape and install it. What are your recommendations for correcting this problem? Thanks

In regards to installing an awning rail, you do indeed need butyl tape between the rail and camper. I recommend the Alpha Systems Q180 Butyl Tape part # AL92FJ for rails up to 30'. If the old screws are coming out then I recommend a longer screw if the trailer permits for this. If not, you'll have to secure the awning rail in new screw holes and fill the old with silicone. I recommend the TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant part # 0160297.
